The Stone Cloud Build Method

Our Custom Home Building Process

A Design-First, Precision-Driven Approach to Custom Home. At Stone Cloud Design + Build, our process is intentionally front-loaded. By addressing complexity early—before construction begins—we create clarity, protect budgets, and deliver a smoother, more controlled building experience.

Consult & Alignment — step one of the Stone Cloud design-build process

Consult & Alignment

Every project begins with listening.

We start by understanding your goals, lifestyle needs, site conditions, and budget expectations. This early alignment allows us to evaluate feasibility, outline next steps, and establish a clear path forward before design decisions are made.

This phase sets the foundation for informed planning and realistic expectations.

Integrated Design — architectural planning at Stone Cloud Design Build

Integrated Design

Design is where clarity is created.

We work collaboratively to coordinate architectural design, structural engineering, and key systems with constructibility in mind. Our design process is informed by real-world building experience, ensuring ideas translate efficiently from paper to reality.

Thoughtful design reduces uncertainty later in the process.

Pre Construction Precision

This is where planning becomes tangible.

During pre-construction, we develop detailed, trade-by-trade pricing, engage subcontractors early, verify lead times, and minimize allowances wherever possible. Selections and decisions are intentionally front-loaded to avoid rushed choices during construction.

The result is a budget grounded in real market conditions—not assumptions.

Construction Execution — Stone Cloud building a custom Denver home

Construction Execution

Building with intention, not reaction.

Once construction begins, our focus is on disciplined execution. We manage scheduling, coordinate trades, and maintain consistent on-site standards while tracking progress against both schedule and budget.

Changes, when requested, are handled transparently and deliberately—never informally.

This approach keeps projects moving efficiently and predictably.

Handover & Ongoing Support — completed custom home delivery

Handover & Ongoing Support

Finishing well matters.

As the project nears completion, we guide clients through a structured closeout process that includes detailed walkthroughs, system orientations, and clear warranty expectations. Our involvement continues after move-in, with responsive follow-up and long-term support.

The relationship doesn’t end at handover.

Why Our Process Works

Behind our five visible steps is a six-phase internal discipline that prioritizes planning, transparency, and accountability. By doing more work upfront, we reduce risk, limit surprises, and deliver a better experience for everyone involved.

Words from our clients

“Bryan and the StoneCloud team are awesome! They built our custom home in Greenwood Village and we love it. A lot of builders/designers think they know modern… Bryan and his team truly are masters at building modern custom homes. From the architecture/design process to the building to the finishes to the designers, StoneCloud truly was outstanding. With high attention to detail and very top-notch subs, the team treats the home as if it were theirs. Bryan knows all the subs and they all know each other – the process was very smooth. I highly recommend Bryan and his team.”

“We purchased a newly built home by Stone Cloud in October 2014. We had seen in person almost 100 homes, and this home by far had the best quality construction and design out of all of them. They did a great job with everything from the tiles in the bathroom to the stone in the outdoor fireplace. Moreover, they were great with following through with our punch list items after we had moved in. If we were to ever build a new home from the ground up in Cherry Hills, we would definitely choose Stone Cloud.”
